Helical gears consist of many bevel-shaped spiral teeth that are tilted at an angle to the transmission shaft. The helical gear shaft connects the helical gears and is fixed in the transmission by bearings.

The working principle of helical gears

 

The working principle of helical gear transmission is based on the meshing and rolling of bevel helical teeth. When the helical gear rotates, the contact point between the helical teeth and the adjacent teeth gradually moves from the wheel rim to the tooth top, causing the pressure between the gears to gradually increase.


Characteristics of helical gears:

2. The direction of rotation can be changed by helical conversion: The direction of rotation of the helical gear can change with the change of the helix angle.


3. Fast wear: Due to point contact and high sliding speed, the wear of helical gears is relatively fast.


4. Point contact: Compared with the line contact of spur gears, the contact of helical gears is point contact, which helps to reduce noise but may increase wear.


5. Small axial force: Due to the existence of the helix angle, the axial force generated by the helical gear during the transmission process is relatively small.
